Fabrics and Materials
The fabric is the part of an awning you see, touch and replace. It decides how cool the space under it feels, whether it fades in three summers or twelve, and whether rain runs off or soaks through. Frame materials decide whether the whole thing still looks straight after a decade of sun and wind.
These guides explain fiber, coating and weave in plain terms, then translate lab numbers (UPF, openness factor, solar transmittance) into what you will feel on the patio. For a single side-by-side view, see the fabric comparison table.
