Maintenance and Weather

Most retractable systems do not wear out, they get worn out: fabric rolled up wet, frames left open in a gusty afternoon, grit ground into tracks for five summers. A short routine and a few weather rules prevent nearly all of it.

These guides cover the routine (cleaning, mildew, winter), the weather rules (wind and rain) and the long view (when to replace fabric and what really limits lifespan). For anything already broken, go to troubleshooting. The lifespan and maintenance table shows what to inspect and when.
